The best thing about dog training is the fellowship one gets from folk who have an appreciation for like things. I have seldom questioned any member or trainer in the k-9 venues where I belong and play. The rest, personal growth, and play which is found in the working dog area is like "new breath" to a track runner. I LOVE IT!
On January 18th, the DELMARVA WORKING DOG GROUP in Harrington, Delaware hosted a training day with the South Jersey Working Dog Club. We train in similar methods and for almost the same reasons. PPD and sport dog training and using the techniques to watch our dogs do well in K-9 battles with man. It was like new breath of fresh air...working with the decoys and members of this group. By the time we were done, it was like having Christmas morning...the fun filled the air.
No egos, no issues, and no backbiting...only by the dogs. It was the fellowship with like minded people that gave me the drive to find other or new ways of doing what we do in our group. Finding the growth triggers to expand the skills of our dogs and handler teams.
I agree with you Howard- when we were in Florida,(and can't wait to get back there!!) there were many times we got together with other training groups in the area and had a fun day of training- it gave the dogs different decoys, different levels of pressure, different fields and all the handlers had the same things in common- we would end the day, by having lunch together- it was usually a great time.
By the way, Howard you look good on the banner- I didn't realize it was your avitar- I would not make a very good detective- Mo
