Had my 16mo rot on a long line putting him threw a bit of ob and ball retrieve
Middle age lady with a toy poodle off leash enters the park and engages me in conversation
She requests to pet my dog, I tell her, he is not that kind of dog, and that I would not allow interaction between my 140 lib rott and her 5 lib toy, telling her for liability sake I wouldn’t like to see my dog step on hers and break its bones
She scoffs and tells me that would never happen and asks what I meant he wasn’t that type of dog
I told her he was a protection dog and I didn’t want him looking for strange people or other dogs attention as he should be focused on me
She asked protection from what, at that point I began to understand she was a bit off
I told her protection from any threat
She told me that that’s unfortunate because dogs need social interaction with other dogs or ells they get dog aggressive and go unfulfilled in life
I told her he gets plenty of social interaction from me and his lifestyle dose not allow him any contact with other animals so it is unnecessary (he is totally dog neutral and people friendly) and that was her opinion
She insisted that it was fact not opinion and tried to start an argument I thanked her for her opinion 10 more times until she finally left me alone
Any thoughts on this ?

Hahhaha, the Lady was a sweetie. Protection from what? Haha, she lived a peaceful and wonderful life I guess.
Kudos for the assertivness to stand for your principles. A protection dog is not a pet, and people should understand that. She was a brave lady tho, approaching a 140 lbs Rott fearless and trying to pet him is quite brave Imo.
