It's always funny to hear people talk about all the bare-handed dog killing they could do if necessary. Delusions of grandeur.........

Dave wrote Butch I'll have to look into that this is the first I've heard of this new study.
Dave in Dr. Mechs explanation he also says it takes about 20 years for scientific studies to reach the general population so it is normal that you may not have seen it yet.

Dave then wrote; I prefer a dog who's more interested in doing what I want to do than what he wants to do, This is where we are in complete agreement. Problem for the dog owner is? How do they teach the dog that what the human is interested in, trumps what the dog is interested in? That is why we have Trainers. They show the owners how to get that message to the dog.

Dave wrote; and I really don't like a dog who'll try to correct me or my loved ones for doing something he doesn't like. If you have learned how to make your interests, your dogs' interest (see above) this is not an issue.

Mike S added something very insightful; It's always funny to hear people talk about all the bare-handed dog killing they could do if necessary. Delusions of grandeur....
Mike I have supervised well over a hundred street bites over my years in the Guard dog industry. I have also been looking at the internet discussions on this subject, over the last year or so, and I just want to say "I have never seen a more accurate statement than yours"; DELUSIONS OF GRANDEUR, Thanks for a little realism.

Wishful thinking with a driven dog if you're a city dweller IMO. The bottom line is we're always putting boundaries on the dog's behavior, whether it's don't chew a shoe or don't chase a cat..

Yo,I agree with that too Mr.Cappel.

But why do dog owners go pay for training and don't believe this?

Why do so many PP trainers & Protection Sports trainers not believe this?(while charging a fee for the service)...hmmmmnn......can they not teach it?...not seen it?

DanE. I have read your views on this,so I hear you.

I'm talking about anyone going and googling K9 PP Trainers in your respective state/city.

The ads come up as "Protection for your Family"........"peace of mind for you and yours"

With a Level 1 ---------- -Level 99 program

depending on the deepness of the pockets of a client...or their level of genuine fear for their safety.

THATS almost always who I'm speaking of when I say PP trainers
