It never fails to piss me off with backyard breeders. Many of these "breeders" are producing the "Designer Dogs" for the yuppie population! To rub salt into the wound, they have the nerve to charge fees for their junk as if they were producing QUALITY.
Then to really spin my briefs, trying to sell real quality dogs is like having your best friend give you a free tooth cleaning with a sandblaster. I would like to see some form of legislation to outlaw the designer breeds or make the "breeders" pay such a very high price for their "craft" that they put themselves out of business.
Most of the folks I have come in contact with don't have any idea about K-9 genetics, the outcomes their are "creating" or the health issues these animals will face. In addition, better animals can be found from the local SPCA or no-kill rescues, and they will cost 10% of the Designer Breed price.
I just hope responsible working dog owners become active against any kennel operation that trys to create the newest form of German Shepherd, Rottweiler, Bouvier or other lines. The K-9 pimps or backyard breeders need run out of town...
It bothers me as much as it does you. But there's not much we can do about it so I don't think about that any more. When I was closer to the dog biz it bothered me to no end. I've actually seen nice labdoodles or some such thing. At least mixing them there's a chance for healthier dogs. I just try to concentrate on what I"m doing and not see all the crap that surrounds the dog world.
